Congratulations to us all! Nine years ago we launched this innovative science tourism programme with the motto ‘Let curiosity guide you’. The challenge is still relevant today and only makes sense in your company.

On the 6^th of February 2026, we celebrated our 9^th anniversary and want to thank you for your trust. Since the launch in 2017, the Journeys have brought 236 653 visitors* to the Ciência Viva Science Centres. Today there are around 14 400 explorers* and, in 2025, we registered 44 337 visitors with the card throughout the National Network of Ciência Viva Science Centres. Thank you for your trust!

We look back and feel proud of everything we've achieved together. We have surpassed 300 partners in science, culture, accommodation, restoration and transport. In 2019, we received the Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Awards 2019 from the International Association of Museums and Science and Technology Centres.

In 2020, we launched the new Vale do Côa journey and the Museu do Côa joined the Network of Ciência Viva Science Centres. The following year, it was the turn of the Plataforma de Ciência Aberta in Barca d'Alva and the Vale do Côa journey became even greater!

In 2022, the 5^th anniversary was celebrated with the 1^st edition of the Ciência Viva Journeys Passport, offering traditional games to those who completed their 3rd and 6th visits to different centres.

In the summer of 2023, we launched the 7^th edition of the guidebook with the new Arcos de Valdevez Journey and the 2nd edition of the Passport. So far, 32 families have completed their visits to all CV Science Centres and won Passport prizes culminating in a one-night stay with an accommodation partner.

In November 2024, it's the turn for Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Centre, on the island of Faial, to join the network of Science Centres. The 9^th edition of the CV Journeys Guidebook, with the new Faial Journey, was published in June 2025, with the Passport’s 3^rd edition!

In June 2025, it’s the turn for Centro de Ciência do Café, in Campo Maior, to join the network of Science Centres and it is already possible to visit it with your Ciência Viva Journeys card. Soon we'll be launching the Campo Maior Ciência Viva Journey!

So many highlights that make us wish that many more families could enjoy all the advantages of the Ciência Viva Journeys.
